What happened
Some of you know that Neal has had a stroke in the past. On September 6, he suffered a much more serious stroke and was taken to the hospital. He was later transported to a larger hospital, where doctors identified the underlying problem: a severely blocked carotid artery.
Thankfully, doctors were able to perform surgery successfully. The stroke has left Neal unable to use the left side of his body, and he is now beginning the hard work of rehabilitation. The effects of a major stroke do not end when someone leaves the operating room. He faces continued therapy, follow-up care, travel, and time away from the work that has supported him.
Neal is a longtime member of the Brownwood, Texas community and has spent his life making a living with his hands as a painter and carpenter. Losing the use of his left side means he cannot currently return to that work. His family is focused on helping him regain strength and independence without the immediate weight of everyday expenses. Every donation, share, prayer, and word of encouragement helps.
